howto clear print queue?

Lately, whenever I boot up my linux box (4.0 knoppix-instalered to hda2) the printer starts printing out random junk and I can't make it stop without turning off the printer so I can't print anything!

Anyone know how to stop this?

delete the printer - old print jobs will disappear. then reinstall.

Thanx, I managed to clear the print queue when I tried to print someting and got the printer icon to pop up in the bottom right corner.
