USB autoconfiguration

i was wondering if there was a way of automatically loading a config file from a USB stick.
the aim being say i saved work on the desktop or changed any menus to my liking, the next time i reboot the computer/knoppix with the usb stick in place, it will automatically load all the various data?

any pointers would be helpful
