PPPoA going well until .....

Hi,
I have downloaded the driver for the prolink hurricane 8000 adsl modem and have installed it.
Ran the included script to start it up. Everything was going well until it tried to start the pppd. At that point, it says loading pppd daemon and then displayed garbage... Any suggestions what could be wrong?

I found ADSL modem with VendorID = 06b9 & ProductID = a5a5
