Downloaded and burnt cd of Knoppix 4.0.2, works great on 3 different computers i tried, but the computer i wanted it for wont boot from thr cd at all. I tried another distro previously (Slax) and got the same results. I'm thinking its a bios issue, but wanted to try and get some suggestions before I messed with my bios.

It probabaly is a bios issue. Just check if your system boots from that particular cd drive first. if that is already set, then your bios is probabaly corrupted. try resetting it and then updating it.

You posted lots of information but we don't even know if your BIOS is configured to try to boot from the optical drive first. From the age of the system it certainly should boot fine from optical media. See answer #1 (http://www.knoppix.net/wiki/User:Harry_Kuhman).

I guess I should have checked this out first. There is an updated bios that hopefully corrects this issue. Computer finishes post then I get a blank screen and on top it says PRESS A KEY TO REBOOT.
Heres the description for the bios upgrade:

Fixed HCT 11.0 test COM2 fail
Add PS2 Keyboard status report to solve System Information inform a problem devices of keyboard in WinXP.
Implement microcode to support new stepping CPU
Fixed IDE CDROM boot fail and show Press a key to boot.

The bios update worked like a charm. I installed the newest version avaialble, 1007, they fixed this problem with version 1004. Motherboard came with 1003.
CD booted and Knoppix loaded no problem.
Have a good Memorial Day.
