help required remastering knoppix

I have followed the instructions 'Remaster knoppix the easy way using menu based remaster scripts'. I am using knoppix 3.8. I am in kde. How do i partition the hard drive, i have opened the terminal and i am getting this error 'opening disk read only you do not have permissions to write' when i type cfdisk /dev/hda

Please help as i am stuck

If this is an attempt to install it onto a hard drive, I recommend a serious look at a real Distro, and not a LiveCD. With that said...

open a terminal, and switch to root.

su

then, unmount the hard drive/partition you want to work on

umount /dev/hdXY

then:

fdisk /dev/hdX

That should get you to where you can start partitioning, but a word of warning: Anytime you do something to a partition, you lose the data on it, so backup everything important before working to repartition unless you know what you are doing, otherwise you will be sorry.
