Has anybody tried to get knoppix working on the HP ZE4365 laptop? Problem is that the video freezes when X is initialized. The video card is an ATI Radeon U1. Fedora runs OK, but Knoppix won't run. On boot, Fedora states, "ATI Radeon Northrbridge has not been fully tested" I tried putting in radeon as a cheat code, and it didn't work. I can get knoppix running in failsafe mode, but would like to know how to get it running in X.

You may still have to use a cheatcode to configure your video. I might recall there being some sort of a bug with Xorg and some radeon chipsets. You might try "knoppix xmodule=fbdev", or fbxine ,or even ati. I would believe that the issue is due to knoppix using Xorg version 7.0 in Version 5.0.1 rather than Xfree86 as it had in past versions. Some of the cheatcodes may not work for that reason either. You could go to www.x.org and poke around for some more information.
