I tried to install version 4.0.2 to my hard drive. I partitioned it, but when I install it it will install up to 75 percentthen everything after that gives me like 100000 error messages. could this be because of my computer? or is it something wrong with the cd.

Enter
knoppix testcd at the boot prompt. This will check the cd for data errors. If the cd is fine ("Everything looks o.k."), the problem might be caused by defective hardware. Use boot command
memtest to test your computer's memory modules.
