I have an installation of Knoppix 4.0.2
and my apt-get showed dependencies error, it goes like this :

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
opera: Depends: libqt3-mt (>= 3.3.4) but it is not installed
E: Unmet dependencies. Try using -f.

then I tried apt-get -f install

and it showed :

101 upgraded, 106 newly installed, 449 to remove and 1602 not upgraded.
1 not fully installed or removed.
Need to get 186MB of archives.
After unpacking 1132MB disk space will be freed.
Do you want to continue? [Y/n]

most of 449 packages it wants to delete, are my favorite application. So, I hit 'n'

how do I solve this dep error ?

how do I solve this dep error ?
The main reason many of us repeatedly warn not to "install" Knoppix is just this type of dependency problem. See here (http://www.knoppix.net/wiki/HD_Install_Warning_not_to_do_it) for why this is happening. How do you solve this error? You install Debian, not Knoppix, and then you are free to install any application you want, including all on the knoppix CD, and you should not have these "dep errors" any more.
