hello all

i made a knoppix install (hdd3) on a win200 pc (sda1). i choosed to install grub in the MBR.
now when i would like to to boot, only the text MBR 123FA: with the blinking cursor after appears. nothing happens...

what does this mean? what can i do now?

thanks for any help to a newbie

This is some kind of Grub basic menu peculiar to the MBR installed by Debian. I have been trying to induce it on my system but couldn't. A google search for MBR 123FA yields only 2 pages -- that just shows you how rare this situation is.

All I can suggest is, when you see 123FA, try hitting "1", or "2" or "3" or "F" or "A" and see what happens.

Interesting problem -- tell us more when you learn more.

thanks for your comment!

i wrote with the reinstallation cd from windows a new partition boot sector to the system partition (The fixboot command is only available when you are using the Recovery Console)

that helps! windows is bboting now like before
