booting knoppix in text mode

hi i have installed the vmware machine and then when i put the knopeppix cd it runs in xterm and the problem ois that i don't have much RAM so can you help me how i configure knoppix to boot on text mode only for example the bash

You need to write knoppix 2 in the initial boot-prompt to boot Knoppix into "runlevel 2" which is text-mode.

knoppix vga=normal 2 might give even simpler text-mode. (I can't reboot Knoppix at the moment to test this so I'm not 100% sure.)
