I'm having problems booting from a knoppix 5.0.1 CD on a HP dx5150 box. The initial knoppix boot prompt displays; I hit enter; then I get:

Scanning for USB/Firewire devices ... Done.
Enabling DMA acceleration for: hda [LITE-ON CD-ROM LTN-4891S]
Looking for CD in: /dev/hda

Then nothing further: it just seems to hang (requires power-cycling to continue.)
The CD boots fine in a different box; a knoppix 4.0 CD boots fine in this box.

If anyone has any ideas, I'd be most grateful

that's strange. try entering some cheatcodes and disabling
some options.

Thanks for that. After several unsuccessful experiments, "knoppix nodma" did the trick (currently no idea why.)
