hello,

I've downloaded Knoppix CD v5.0.1 and burnt it. I tried on one of my computer, and when I don't enter any cheatcodes, it just won't boot. After scanning for USB devices it displays thiserror message:
Acessing KNOPPIX CD at /dev/hda... insmod: error insterting "/cdrom/KNOPPIX/modules/cloop.ko" : -1 Out of memory

And it freezes there... nothing responds...

Any solutions?

Thanks,
JP

I have no idea what your problem is, but I suggest that you check if you followed all of the steps referenced in the FAQ pointed to in answer #1 (http://www.knoppix.net/wiki/User:Harry_Kuhman).

Thank you for your answer.

I read through the Download FAQ and it did not help.

And I forgot to mention that when i use nodma cheatcode, it does work, but I've read on the forum (correct me if i'm wrong and it'll solve my problem) it slows down knoppix or something like that.

Thanks again!

The cheat codes are parameters that you pass at boot time that guide the hardware choices that Knoppix otherwise tries to make automatically. dma or nodma is a significant choice and one that unfortunately Knoppic can't always make correctly for all hardare combinations. Yes, dma is generally faster than defeating dma transfers with the nodma option, but not all systems will use dma properly; it is much more important to use the choice that works here than the one that you think is faster. I'm glad that this is all it was for you; I was suspecting that you had either a bad download or a high speed burn.
