hi im running an older amd core and wondering if it will cd
boot, i saw intel compatable on the linux website when it said knoppix

You didn't give us all the hardware details, but there should be no problem; I have an old Pentium 166 (thet started as a P90) that boots the CD just fine). AMD is not a problem, I run it on an old K6 and my Athlon 1000 frequently. If the BIOS on a very old machine doesn't have CD support, people sometimes use a little help like a Smart Boot Manager boot floppy or even installing SBM to the hard disk MBR. And sometimes you need a "cheat code" or two to help with hardware detection, but almost any system can be coaxed into booting a properly made copy of Knoppix and most need no special effort at all.
