Is there anything like microsofts mstsc.exe available for Knoppix that will let you remote desktop to a windows PC\Server?

You mean like VNC?

VNC would be OK - but that relies on it being installed and running on the remote computer. RDP's a bit quicker too.

Yes, rdesktop is working ('ive just tested it to my XP Prof station):
in a console simply try
rdesktop 192.168.0.123 <- place ip of your server here

But Knoppix 5.0.1 contains the older rdesktop 1.4.1; the actual 1.5.0 seems to support XP themes much better (my rdesktop'ed XP looks like Win2000 on Knoppix.

krdc does rdp and vnc

also, you can use the nxserver and client to attach to remote Windows XP / termserv client

i prefer krdc over rdesktop and nxserver

Thanks. I didn't even know it was there! Both rdesktop and KRDC work fine. Is there a page that lists all the included tools in Knoppix?

"Is there a page that lists all the included tools in Knoppix?"

Check the download mirrors for a file called packages or packages.txt. If you can't
find it then pm me with an email and I'll send it to you.

Harry, you interested in posting that online?

In that the file is on all of the mirrors, it is on-line. I've not seen a need to post it here, as it changes from release to release and is already easily available. However, if someone wanted to create a wiki topic for included packages and post this information under CD and DVD sections clearly spelling out what version the package lists were for then I don't see any harm in doing so. You're welcome to do so, I will not be doing it.
