Scanning for USB...

I am trying to run knoppix 4.0 from a live dvd from the Linux Bible book. When knoppix boots and scans for USB it searches forever and never moves on. I know that i can boot it so that it will skip this step ( (knoppix nousb) ive tried this and it works) but if i want to use my usb stuff, what do i do?

Have you checked the bug docs here (http://www.knoppix.net/wiki/Bugs/4.0)?
BTW 4.0.2 is better & even 5.01 should work as well.
