Hi,

Well im trying to install the linux version of Adobe Reader and I keep getting depency errors, saying i need certain things starting with Libxxx. I just installed knoppix 5.0.1 today on my computer and was wondering if i needed to install or update the system first before installing rpm packages. Thanks.

Hi,
why beginners still want to install knoppix to their hd is a real question to me, because knoppix is NOT meant to be installed. It is not a common GNU/Linux once installed. Why don`t you install a GNU/Linux distro that is made to install? It makes things, in the end, so much easier for you folks. Beware, I still use Knoppix a lot, especially for finding out how a computer system is setup and to make back-ups and much more.

Considering Adobe Reader: you`ve got xpdf and kpdf, that`s not the thing you want to use?

Problems with a hard disc installed knoppix are common.

One golden tip: install a GNU/Linux distro, not a LIVE distro.

Debian - OpenSuse - Fedora - Mandriva - Ubuntu - VectorLinux - SimplyMepis - and a lot of others, what more do you need?

By the way: no hard feelings.
Greetings.
