Board: Gigabyte 965P-DS3 (rev 2.0)
DVD drive: NEC ND-3500AG

Symptom: "Can't find KNOPPIX filesystem, sorry". I've tried all combinations of the "all-generic-ide" and "pci=nommconf" cheatcodes with no help (though all-generic ide causes me to see an entry about enabling DMA for my DVD drive). using "expert all-generic-ide pci=nommconf testcd", I see that it properly detects my DVD drive as hdi (the SATA drives show up as hda and hdc), and identifies it as an ATAPI drive and the NEC model number is correct.

I've tested this CD in another machine with this DVD drive -- the disk and drive are good.

Any thoughts on what I can try? I'm using KNOPPIX_V5.0.1CD-2006-06-01-EN. Would a SATA CD drive work better?

Thanks in advance for the help,

Jonathan

is it not finding the KNOPPIX on the /hxy
as in the wrong number, and you need some sort of
nousb
cheat code
http://www.knoppix.net/wiki/Cheat_Codes
try the
atapicd

or if you get to see where the cd is identified as ..... try
bootfrom=/dev/hdy6

or is it finding the cd and then failing during the boot
