This is a bug report and a workaround. I have an Nvidia PCIe 6600 card which gets detected and setup properly. But the auto-selected nv driver does not display any mouse cursors. The mouse works fine with the desktop... except it is invisible!
WORKAROUNDS:
FIX #1: Select the vesa driver when booting KNOPPIX. Use the code 'knoppix xmodule=vesa' when booting.
FIX #2: After booting the Live CD, use the invisible mouse to open an xterminal. Use your favorite text editor to edit /etc/X11/xorg.conf -- you will have to su since this is a root access file. Midnight commander (mc) is great for this.
In xorg.conf one of the last sections will look like the following:
Section "Device"
# Option "sw_cursor"
# Option "hw_cursor"
Remove the '#' from the "sw_cursor" line and save the file.
Then restart the desktop by pressing CTRL-ALT-BACKSPACE, using the CTRL-ALT on the right side of the keyboard.
Fix #2 will have to be repeated each time you boot the LiveCD on the Nvidia machine.
