With Knoppix 5.1.1CD, when I boot it as a virtual machine under Microsoft VirtualPC 2004 SP 1, I don't have a working mouse. Knoppix 5.0.1CD works fine as a virtual machine.

Has anyone else encountered this issue? Does anyone know of a workaround or fix?

Ditto on the Virtual PC mouse issue with Knoppix 5.1.1 EN. I am using VirtualPC 6.1.1 on a PowerBook G4 running MacOS X 10.3.9. No matter what I try both on VirtualPC's configuration as well as Knoppix cheat codes, I cannot get the system to "capture" the mouse and, more telling, it is NOT listed in the devices during startup.

All previous versions of Knoppix, up to and including 5.0.1 EN, DVD or CD, work perfectly (if albeit a bit slowly, but usable for demo purposes) on this very same setup.

Any workaround?

I'm having the same issue with Knoppix 5.1.1 on VPC 5.3.582.27 on XP Pro SP2. Anyone found a solution yet?

Thanks,

Chris

Maybe it will shed some light to check out this thread:

Giles has some nifty configs and tools for working inside a VM (Though I believe he using VMWare)

try to change the boot option. at the end of the "kernel ....", add one space, then two dashes, then the i8042.noloop: " -- i8042.noloop"

Search for this article "Installing Ubuntu 7.10 Under Virtual PC 2007", it is for ubuntu, but also works for knoppix:

Since I prefer the full command line be provided once someone gets something working, here's what just worked for me in Virtual PC 2007 on a Vista host.

knoppix xserver=XFree86 xmodule=s3 depth=16 -- i8042.noloop
