I was wondering, can't I install knoppix in an old hdd i have here and switch between drives as master and slave in order to choose the operative system without harming both? Can I achieve that throught cable select rather than by jumper switching? How?

Tks for all help you can gimme,

JP

You'll probably have to adjust jumpers anyway, as a HD can be set to master, slave or cable select. They usually default to master. I'd set one on master, the other on slave (or better leave it master on your secondary IDE channel if that's not used by a cdrom). Then your BIOS should have an option to switch HD priority order, which you'll have to use to install knoppix and later on anytime you want to boot it.
