I recently saw this review (http://www.linux.com/article.pl?sid=07/03/21/1350223) of the Dreamlinux 2.2 Multimedia Edition (http://www.dreamlinux.com.br/). In addition to multimedia players, it comes with applications like Kino for editing video, Blender for modeling, etc.

What other live distros come with similar tools? How good are they (the distros and the applications)?

Dyne:bolic (http://www.dynebolic.org/) is a gnu/linux live cd distro that is geared to audio and video editing and broadcast. It is also aimed at working on older hardware and limited connectivity, so it should use a minimum of resources. I have not tried it yet, but it seems worth a try.
