Knoppix won´t copy..

Hi.

I'm trying to get basically everything out of the My Documents folder (from Windows XP) and putting them into an external usb hd (250 GB). The computer won't load Windows under any circumstances and I'm using knoppix to extract the files to reformat the drive later. But knoppix won't copy the files saying that "Could not write to /mnt/sdb1/alsbat.rm". (alsbat.rm is just a example). Not sure why this is happening.

Any ideas?

If youre using knoppix as a live cd, try right clicking over the external HD icon, there may be an option to mount as read/write.
