Hello,

I am trying to get my wireless card to work in Knoppix 5.1. I'm a knoppix newbie, and don't know much on how to go about this.

My wireless card is as follows:

It is a "Linksys Wireless-G PCI Adapter"
The router name is "WRT54G"
The SSID is "linksys"

Link to product (http://www.linksys.com/servlet/Satellite?c=L_Product_C2&childpagename=US%2FLayout&cid=1150490054358&pagename=Linksys%2FCommon%2FVisitorWrapper&lid=5435839789B35)

The wireless card connects to the router I have downstairs. I'm pretty much clueless on how to set this up. I love knoppix, but it's unpractical for me if there is no internet!

Any short walk through or help at all would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you so much! :D

The method that I have found to be easiest is

1. From root shell run "kwifimanager"
2. From settings select configuration editor
3. Enter your ssid in network name
4. Check use encryption and enter password
5. Select the configuration where you entered the information and press the activate button
6. Press the ok button to close the configuration window
7. from root shell type in "ifconfig wlan0 up"
8. from root shell type in "pump -i wlan0 to get dhcp address.

You should be good to go
