installed knoppix 5.1 english version on
TOSHIBA SATELLITE 6105 CDS (quite a few years old version)
466Mhz
32MB plus 64 MB = total 96 MB RAM
20Gig Hard Drive
GPRS/EDGE connection with Nokia 6070 with CA42 cable
and am using this arrangement to post this message.
was using the live CD before and was unable to successfully load calc.ods files in office 2.1 even with the swap file feature activated, but now that knoppix is installed on HD including with swap partition, I am able to do the spreadsheets.
gimp ok also.
so far so good. I am very pleased.
wheel mouse plugged into the P/S2 port functions without wheelmouse feature if plugged in after booting has fully completed else if plugged in before booting erratic mouse occurs. this was the case with the CD version and now have not tried to boot the HD with the mouse attached. built-in trackpoint mouse functions normally.
USB flash drives kingston, jetflash and ramos all function as do external samsung harddisks in both zynet and cliptec cases.
still working on uploading images from my phone camera, haven't succeeded there yet.
wish list: persistent configuration of the gprs connection past reboot.
