so this computer is working fine when booted with knoppix 5.1.1 on USB and also booted from CD, EXCEPT when I try to use my knoppix.img that is on the USB stick along with the file system as per methods available on the net.
the USB knoppix.img works fine on other computers but this particular computer brand and maybe it is the nec monitor give this flickering horizontal lines but only when I try to use the elsewhere correctly functioning knoppix.img .
The flickering horizontal lines appear after all the booting dialog is completed correctly and then when the mountains should appear, all that can be seen is the flickering horizontal lines like a TV that is not on a TV station. and from where no proceeding is possible, nothing can be clicked or seen to be able to be clicked.

RAM is 128 band have installed 256 swap partition to see if any difference occurres but still the flickering horizontal lines appear on using knoppix.img ( home=/media/sda2/knoppix.img)

here is the dmesg output for the computer when knoppix.img is not used:

it is not only one computer as there are a few similars with the same flickering horizontal lines problem around the areas that i am currently using.

computer is Dell and screen is NEC multiSync 15AV

so copied the knoppix.img file from the USB and put it along with a swap file on the hda1. rebooted and started with:
knoppix fromhd=/dev/sda1 home=/media/hda1/knoppix.img

and the result:

tah dah (drum roll)

same flickering horizontal lines as before.

(sigh).

there is still nothing wrong with the exact same knoppix.img on USB when used on my laptop.
