When I try to boot from my Knoppix CD, it detects my hardware with no problems. After it finishes that, however, my monitor goes blank. I have a Dell monitor and a nVidia GForce 7300 LE video card.

Try using the cheatcode "knoppix xmodule=vesa" to see if that helps. It may be a driver issue with your graphics adaptor. Hopefully the issue will be resolved in the much awaited version 5.2.1. You may not have all of the graphic cards capabilities, but it should work.

Try ckamin's suggestion first. If that doesn't help, it may be that the video output is running beyond what the monitor will accept. Try looking up your monito's specs and using cheat codes to force an acceptable resolution and an acceptable scan rate. Monitors will often go black if the scan rate is out of range (some are getting smarter and displaying a warning that this is happening but not all).
