Hello, i've been running knoppix from the cd my first linux distro and like it a lot .
Everything is working fine EXCEPT the resolution
My monitor is a Compaq MV520 / video card NVIDIA RIVA TNT 2 Model 64 Pro, and when i start knoppix it automatically goes to 800 x 600 (i need 1024x768!!!), i tried changing it on the config menu but 800 x 600 was the highest res available!!! Then i tried the cheat code knoppix screen=1024x768, but nothing! I noticed during start up when its detecting hardware after detecting my video card or monitor its says supported 1024x768 800x600 and 640x480. I also tried the cheat code to switch to vesa mode but same thing didnt make a difference. Please help i've been trying to change it for a long time

Thanks!!!

I also have a NVIDIA RIVA TNT 2 in my main system, and don't have this problem so your card type should be OK. But I know another machine with the COMPAQ MV520 monitor, which will only work at 60Hz v refresh rate.
So you could try in addition the cheatcodes
xmodule=nv vsync=60

If that doesn't work, try booting up to level 2 (cheatcode 2), and run

dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg
responding to the questions (expert mode for monitor) with your exact monitor details.
Then start KDE with
init 5

Ok, so i tried the xmodule & the vsync cheat code and nothing. Then i booted up level 2, configured the monitor manaully and still nothing. Even on the advanced config the 3 resolutions that were allready checked 1024x768 800x600. Oh well, thanks anyway johny. Ima go try the knaopix ijust downloaded might give me the screen i need
