I am helping out a friend whose HD was failing. I have always had good luck booting into Knoppix and getting the data off of failing drives. But not this time....

The system would not boot and the BIOS would only see the drive some of the time. I have connected it to my laptop as an external USB drive but I cannot not see it in KNOPPIX. Dmesg shows the following:

IS there anything I can do to actually see this drive?
