Hi,

I have been having what seems to be the usual problems with the HD install of Knoppix and mysql. I have found that the user name is not mysql but msql. There is also no /var/run/mysql and no /tmp mysql anything. Since I am a relative newbie to linux I was wondering if someone could create a downloadable file with all of the mysql setup issues resolved. There are so many threads related to the hd install and the mysql problems.

If you installed Knoppix from the CD (5.1.1), it's really missing some important files, such as:
1)linux-headers
2)MySQL-Server (it's already got MySQL-Client - which is useless without the server)

Its also got some bugs. Here's a solution to one of them:
1) "sudo" needs to be changed to "su" in your /home/[username]/.kde/share/config/kdesurc file... this will let U open synaptic & a bunch of other files.

Hope this helps.'8)'
