I have a Clevo 2700T laptop, and knoppix loads and runs fine
except for some small problems and 1 big problem:

The big problem is that the laptop powers off for no reason, especially when on batteries. I could be typing into a root shell, or playing frozen bubble or surfing, and it just powers off. No message, no nothing, just turns off.

Minor problems:
ieee1394,ohci1394,video1394 drivers loaded, but no success in dvgrab some frames from a Sony TRV330E (PAL) camcorder.

I tried to do a hdBased install also (with loadlin) , but it hangs on boot everytime.

Have you tried using knoppix noapm or knoppix noapic for a cheat code (http://www.knoppix.net/docs/index.php/CheatCodes) when you boot.

Most likely its battery. Either replace battery and verify or else use a/c power supply.
