Im sorry but i'm new to linux and my windows just crashed on a laptop and i need to retrieve some files. i needed to mount my hardrive and when i did it stated that it was unclean and cannot mount. then i forced it and it allowed me to see some of the files, in properties it shows the correct amount of harddrive usage of 20 gigs used but when i actually look through the hardrive it only shows me 500 megs of the 20 gigs i have on my hardrive. can anyone tell me why this is and how to fix it pleasse.

likely you have a corrupted filesystem OR crashed drive (not as likely).
My other half just came in, it turns out I am somewhat short on time to help.
Her sisters youngest is to make her fisrst church apperance (she is 3 months old...) in 16 min, AND IT IS A 10 MIN RIDE THERE.
Use the search function on this forum, there is plenty of help on this type available on this forum.
