Greetings from the American desert southwest, where day time temps can reach well over 50C and night time temps well below 0C. A harsh climate to live in fer sure, but not as harsh as Windows Vista. So after a very long absence from Berkley Unix (Berkley?) it's time to return.

But wait, what's this?

No more Bell labs? 30,000 versions of Unix? Which one shall I choose? Knoppix? Why? Tell me in a short para and I'll do it cause there's too much for me to wanna go through it all to make a decision on which variant and you don't wanna hear my thoughts on various OS's.

most would recomend you to go with Kubuntu Ubuntu or (in my opinion) even better the original, Debian.
Min reason is that Knoppix is NOT made to be installed, that it can be is just a "feature", and one that easily breaks...
Knoppix is derived from Debian, but the fact that it uses packets from several versions makes it unstable to install.
