i've remastered knoppix 5.1.1 and removed programs using a kicklist. trouble is, the script, knoppix-mkimage no longer picks up ext2,3, xfs or reiserfs partitions, nor does it detect any .img persistent home's made with the standard knoppix. i have an inckling that i've taken too many programs off. perhaps one that is necessary - although i am not sure which one.

please advise me on this anyone!

You need to quote the url of the procedure you've used, the wiki remaster howto works ok:

http://www.knoppix.net/wiki/Knoppix_Remastering_Howto

although the above refers to Versison 3.3 and 3.4 it also works with 5.11, but see my other posts in this section.

http://ids.surfnet.nl/downloads/kicklist.txt

it cut the version down to 130mb. i think it had something to do with kde-data. through trial and error i got it down to about 430, which was good enough for me. i just wanted the large packages removing to squeeze it as small as possible whilst still being able to run knoppix-mkimage and have mc, wget, lynx and xampp webserver running.

i'll settle for 430 mb unless someone tells me which pesty crettin of a program in the IDS kicklist is causing knoppix-mkimage to not pick up my partitions...
