Hi there, i'm new here and not sure if this is the right place to write this problem. One of my friends told me that the following might be a bug.

I was trying to add some users using "adduser", and i tried to set a specific date to disable the account. I typed the date as 10-01-2008 while the date today is actually 18-01-2008. The amazing thing is that the system didn't inform me that this date is prior to the current date, it simply accepted it.

By the way, when i check the account, it was disabled already because it supposed to be expired.

Forgive my ignorance but i'm new to linux too. So, was that normal?

Don't you think that might lead to some tricky stuff when playing with data & dates in sensetive environments?

Is this problem only in Knoppix "Live CD" or in Linux in general?

Thank you.

it is rarely a problem, it is easy to change with usermod and chmod...
