Can't access important windows file...

Hi,

i am using knoppix to backup some important files from my crashed windows xp

but i cant acces the "documents and settings" folder on my windows disk i don't see any files in that directory i can't either see files in the WINDOWS directory

i hope that anyone can help me

So what drive icons do you see on the knoppix desktop hda1, hda5?
You must answer this question first and how was windows installed,
installed on a single partition as drive c: or multiple partitions?
