Problems with installation

I am trying to install Knoppix 5.1.1 on my HP 7940 with 256M memory

The live CD comes up just fine, the ethernet works, and X windows runs fine

When I installed to disk, the ethernet does not work, nor does X

Any suggestions?

OK, I read about adding

auto eth0

and nbow I have ethernet working.

Sooooo, what about getting X working?
