Apache PHP MySQL

It aint happening for me. Cant find anything in the wiki. Have used previously other servers but cant get a simple PHP script to even start on Knoppix 5.1.1. Start from the begining, getting apache to run. Am getting errors after typing apache2 into a terminal.

Or maybe confirm that apache will run on 5.3.1 and i'll make the effort to download the whole national library.

Google xampp-linux-1.6.6.tar.gz
follow the instalation instructions and be dancing within minutes. (ok confession i did it on puppylinux 3.01 not Knoppix)

Oh yes, the national library is still in the same place and hasnt moved because the bittorrent keeps telling me that the 46G of free space on my drive are insufficient to house it. (windowsXP on the internet cafes broadband)
