HDD check with Knoppix

Hi!

A Friend of mine has Problems with his Computer. So we want to check his Harddisk.
The only OS his Computer is starting with is Knoppix, so the Question is: With which Programm can we check his Harddisk?

Which problem in the HD??

Testdisk for mbr related problem
fsck.vfat, or .ext3 etc. for filesystem related problems
badblocks for .....badblocks!

To check for damaged sectors you can use ddrescue and watch teh error size; ddrescue make an HD bitstream image that can be saved in an other partition/hd (..could be a good idea if there are hardware errors..another HD uin this case;-) ) or redirect to null if you want just do a test.
