Hello,

this time I have got problems for printing. The main reason is nasty one suddenly the printing stops. The printing worked fine the first 15 or 20 single page printing jobs but suddenly ended. I use SuomiKnoppix. How can I solve this "printing jam"?

The follow informations found:

IPP report KDE - managing module:

Unable to open parallel port device file "/dev/lp0": Permission denied

These texts found in error_log.7.gz file:

Started backend /usr/lib/cups/backend/parallel (PID 6405) for job 172.

Hint: Try setting the LogLevel to "debug" to find out more.

There is a cups 1.2.12 in computer (sourcelist- file contains files "cupsys", "cupsys-bsd", "cupsys-client" and "cupsys-driver-gutenprint") but

1) how can I take step backwards and replace the cups 1.2.12 for older cups revision or

2) uninstall the cups and install it back again.

3) any other advices?

Hi,

the older cups version 1.2.12 removed but installed the younger one 1.3.7 back. The printer started printing again. The waiting for the next printing stop starts. The reason for the occured problem is mysterious.
