Just installed Knoppix 5.3.1 to my laptop HD as the knoppix DVD seemed to pick up all the hardware ok. The install was quick and easy but it all went downhill from there.

PRB: kdesu problem - 'error conversation with su ...'. Could not access any root config scripts.
FIX: Configure kdesu to use sudo instead of su

PRB: Can not set time zone from the 'adjust clock' menu. In fact there seems to be a whole range of config options kde control console can not set
FIX: use root shell to set tz using command line.

PRB: Wireless Network does not auto start on boot. All the network config settings are saved and can be viewed and edited with network-setup (from 'Knoppix'->'Network Setup') and the wireless network starts ok without changing anything when you exit.
FIX: Does not seem to be any network start script in /etc/rc?.d so just need to write one. I used bits from the network-setup script and it worked ok. Is this really the best fix?

PRB: Network can not be configured through kde control console. Config is not saved or executed.
FIX: ?

PRB: Samba can not find any workgroups (wireless network is working ok, firewall not active). Worked ok from the DVD.
