When booting from live CD the boot hangs at the line searching for CD in dev/hda (hda is a harddrive and not a CD drive). Does anyone know how to circumvent this?
Thanks for your consideration

Did you select CD or DVD as 'bootdrive'?
Are you using version 5.3.1 which is only DVD?

I used 5.1.1 downloaded the image from the web and burned it on a cd. I entered the CD into the drive and booted with selecting CD-drive as first boot option in the BIOS. The system boots and hangs at the point described above. All existing drives are detected and listed. The message is as described above: searching for CD in drive /dev/hda. hda, however, is a harddrive, the cd drive would be hdc.

did you check the MD5 sum? if not do so.
here you have more information on that.

also did you burn at SLOW speed?, I prefer 4x but i would recommend as slow as you can.
True the CD has all the files and may work partly, even if burned at higher speed, but the files may not be where a booting system expect them...
