Gentoo LiveCD PowerPC

We talked many times about ppc port of knoppix, usualy people said that it would be to much work to do it. But Gentoo made his own today, it's strange because nobody asked them for and they don't have a so good experience as knoppix team. So will knoppix community re-consider ppc port ?

I just tried the gnome version. It's a good try but nothing else.

I explain.

we are landed in console mode, root id. You have to launch Xeasyconf to configure X.
No french keyboard.
satrtx launch a wonderful twm. To get gnome i had to do : X& ; gnome-session, with qwerty keyboard...

I didn't continue the experience, particulary i didn't look at hardware detection.

But it's still not ready for a knoppix-like demo ... i think

But it's quite good. It should be better for future versions.

No kernel panic ! :-) It'sa good new :-) It's the first ppc try so nothing to do with Knoppix 3.2. But goals are the same so the teams should help each other, they need knoppix experience but provide the first step in ppc port, they show that it's not so hard. I should be easiest with Knoppix because Knoppix is based on Debian wich ppc port is exellent, hardware is so much simple on ppc arch, and booting with OpenFirmware would be more powerfull than with a bios because it performs a part of the hardware detection.
