interrupt handler -not syncing

When attempting to boot 3.2 May 20 from cd all starts out well until

kernel panic: interrupt handler
interrupt handler -not syncing

hardware is hp, asus mb w k6 & sis chipset.

Also can any body point me to md5 checker for win with step by step instructions. I'm a liitle dense.
