[Newbe] How to stop menu sound?

Hi,

I am new with Knoppix. It looks al very nice but can anyone tell me how to stop the voice telling me what I am doing when opening/closing menus?

(Disconnection of the PC speaker is not really an option)

I assume that you downloaded knoppix 6. You get the voice with Adriane, for the visually impaired. At the beginning there will be a boot prompt, where you can select knoppix, or as I recall, when you are in Adriane, you can select graphic mode, which will start up the X server.

That will end the audio prompt.
