It looks like the live cd does not play nice with the lvm's that fedora questionably set as their default for installations.

The knoppix live cd did not have the programs needed to perform the many fixes listed on google.

How to mount a logical volume in knoppix?

With Knoppix 6.01,
until I did
modprobe dm-mod
at root prompt, lvm did not work right.
Then you can

vgscan
vgchange -a y

I use a script to mount all my lv's found by

lvs

Knop531 does the modprobe itself.
After the vgchange,
it puts dozens of icons on the desktop with useless "hard disk [dm-nnn]"
After I mount all lv's I just use konqueror
