I installed vsftpd via "apt-get install vsftpd" command and I can access the Knoppix ftp server from my colleague's W98 machine via anonymous login.

However, once logged in, the W98 user cannot upload or download files using send/get commands as he gets permission denied.

From my Knoppix box, I typed "vsftpd" at the root console and I got this error:

root@Microknoppix:/home/knoppix# vsftpd
500 OOPS: could not bind listening IPv4 socket

Does anyone here know what this error means ? Are there any howtos or step-by-step guides on the Web on how to configure vsftpd
correctly ?

Thank you.
