I tried some of the fixes for HAL errors but still can't access any CD, HD, nor floppy from the KDE desktop.
The really strange part to me is a can't access Music-CD's from the desktop but the media players can play the songs just fine.

FYI: I'm running a HD Install

My remaining bugs are:

HAL errors, Permission Errors, or KDE can't locate the devices (drives) from the desktop shortcuts. For example I can create a Boot floppy set in Konsole, but the KDE shortcut can't locate the floppy where it's been setup as.

The fix I tried was "HAL, fstab, management of drives posting by JohnnyH on Fri Fen 16, 2007

It had me edit /usr/sbin/rebuildfstab and /etc/init.d/knoppix-hd-autoconfig

All these changes really did is turn off DMA for all my drives.

uhm, not much time just now (got to leave for work in few min), first of all Knoppix is horror to insall to HDD, even worce to get running well, to me this is OK as it is not intended to work in hdd install, it is a live disk.
now to your other trouble.
as a music CD has no real file sysem it is hard to get working without patching the kernel...
