I noticed that whenever I copy some text in 6.2 and then close the application from which I copied, the text is no longer in memory and is not available for pasting. I am not sure if this is a bug or this is how its supposed to be in Linux, but I am curious if there is a fix to this annoyance

Obviously this is a Linux issue common to every distro, not only knoppix. In some distros this issue has been fixed, for example Ubuntu versions >9.04. I think its a good idea to put this in ideas and be resolved in future versions of Knoppix.
For now whoever finds this behavior annoying can install "parcellite" - very small GTK+ clipboard manager which I find very useful and would keep even if this issue was not existent. If run with -d option parcellite runs in daemon mode just protecting the contents of the clipboard -n option is the no-icon and voila - you have your clipboard safe even after closing the application from which text has been copied.
Hope this helps to anyone
