My touch pad for my laptop isn't working

I have a mouse for it but i hate use that! The strip that is above the touch pad is lit up, but if I take out my mouse the pad doesn't work at all. And the light is still on. My laptop is a Toshiba PLEASE HELP!

I think we'll need more information - please open a terminal window (icon in the "Quick Start" strip) and type in
lspci -vthen post the result here. Also, what model is your Toshiba? They've made more than one kind...
