I am using a Cricket CDMA Modem to connect to the internet with. It works on all the distros I use frequently, (Puppy, Ubuntu and Slax).

Knoppix doesn't auto-recognize it, and I had to hand-enter the 2nd init string and it only connects briefly then disconnects. It is a /dev/tty/ACM0 device. What is the fix?

I appreciate any help you can provide.

I've been hoping someone with more specific insight would jump in here, but since it's been a while I'll make a suggestion. Perhaps you could use one of those "other" distros (Ubuntu is also derived from Debian, so perhaps that one) to deduce what things are needed besides that init string you mentioned. Then the persistent store feature will hold your customization and allow the modem to work.

Hope that helps!

Thank you for your response. Yes, Ubuntu is Debian based which makes Knoppix's failure to make the modem work more perplexing.

I will look at the settings info Ubuntu uses to recognize it and try to use it in Knoppix
